Mia Burnout : Pass the pooch

5
mins

Objective
Learning track awareness during warm-up/basic drill
Activity

Skaters in a pace line. Start skating back to front. Once everyone has gone through make the person in front grab the pooch (can be a plushie, or a ball. Ours is a pooch named Rex).

Person in front (pooch in hand) weaves backwards. When at the back of the pack, she must pass the pooch to the skater in front. Pooch must make it back to the front of the line, as no one weaves backwards unless they have the pooch.

When passing the pooch, skaters will wait up to 2 seconds; if the skater in front is not aware of the pooch, they get bumped with it, at which point they have to leave the paceline and do 5 burpees in the middle, then rejoin the line.

For larger groups or increased awareness, use more than one plushie.

Check For Learning

Everyone will have to look behind them periodically to check on the pooch's status, while keeping their eyes forward to maintain pace with the line
